I don't own one, but have always been curious when going to pet store that there are so many ferret products for sale. Also want to know if vets are required to report a person bringing in a ferret for treatment.

You can do one of three things:
1. Go to the vet and say that your relatives from Oregon have a sick ferret.
2. Tell the vet that you have an elongated rat that needs treatment.
3. Take it to Oregon (or other nearby state) for treatment.
By the way, what's wrong with the ferret?

it is illegal to own ferrets in CA but it is NOT illegal for a doctor to treat them, I work at a vet's office in CA and we have a few clients that have brought their ferrets in to get treated. Just call around to your local vet clinics to see if they have a doctor on staff that will see small mammals and or exotic pets (that's what they are refferred to as at my work)

Well California is a sanctuary state (so Illegals can live there) your safe to bring him to the vet, they cannot report an illegal that they are treating.

I would try the same place all the illegal humans go to get their free medical care in California and other states. They don't have a problem getting health care when they are here illegally.
