Reading, China, August, and Catholic?

I couldn't figure this one out :(

With capital letters they are proper nouns. With lower case, they can be adjectives.

They are both nouns and adjectives?

A reading child does well/ he gave a reading

He went to China [or] she broke the china/ he had a china dog

This is the month of August/ he was an august person

He is a Catholic/ she had catholic views

Is that it?

Like Polish, they can be used as both proper and common nouns.
