I'm looking for a bakery to buy a whole plain cheese cake at a reasonable price. I need it to feed about 10 - 12 people.
Mike's Pastry: They don't tell plain cheesecake and the rest is expensive
Bova's: Sells plain cheese cake, but not sure how big it is.
Cheesecake Factory is too expensive.

Bova's whole cheesecake would easily feed 10-12 people, and it's my favorite in the city. You could try Modern Pastry. Or go outside Boston, there are a few good bakeries in Somerville and Everett (Lyndells in Somerville, plus Elm Street Bakery in Everett, plus a few others)

I drove by this bakery recently and was thinking how wonderful their cheesecake was. Give them a call to make sure they still make it. (My favorite was plain with fresh strawberries.)

These are good, too:

why don't you make one. they are really easy to make and your guest will be thrilled.
Crust:
1 1/2 cups of crushed graham crackers,
5 tbls butter melted,
1/4 cup sugar.
blend together and put in bottom of springform pan.

Cheesecake:
1 lb of cream cheese
1 lb of sour cream
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Bring cream cheese to room temp. Blend it until creamy.
add the eggs 1 at a time, blending in between. Add the sugar, blend, add the sour cream, blend, and the vanilla and blend. Pour into springform pan and bake in a water bath at 325 for about an hour. (to bake in water bath, wrap springform with foil so that the bottom and sides are covered and then place springform into a larger pan and fill larger pan with about 1 - 1 1/2 in of water, enough to come about halfway up the springform. This will help the cheesecake to cook evenly. Refrigerate overnight. and serve with fresh berries or topping of choice.

I swear by Sara Lee's frozen cheesecake. It is yummy! Did you try Alden Merril? There is an Alden Merril shop in Sudbury.
