The Columbia River Gorge. I've lived here since 1976, and lived here a couple of times prior to 1976. We have mountains, the Columbia River, Bald Eagles, Osprey, Deer, Elk, Mountain Lions, Bears, and over 300 miles of hiking trails. My commute to work each day is 20 miles, but it is gorgeous and I don't ever get tired of the scenery.

I remember growing up on the North Carolina coast running barefoot through the woods collect tulip poplar and dogwood flowers, dodging the young copperheads, and going to the beach to look for shells and shark teeth. I remember one morning the sun looked just like an orange beach ball rising over the dark waters. The sky was the most beautiful hues of pink and orange and purple and I can still remember the beach oats waving in the wind like their own golden sea. I loved chasing crabs, playing with the hermit crabs and digging up sand shrimp to put in the moat of my sand castle just to dig them back up a few minutes later after they burrowed back in. Too bad I can't get back on base to visit my birthplace/childhood home ever again unless I marry a Marine...
Okinawa was gorgeous, too.

When I was growing up as a kid. We lived on the shoreline in CT and I loved having a house on the beach. Now I live 2 hours away in the country. That is my goal to go back to the shoreline and buy a small house on the beach.

My family home in Western Australia between the ages of 12 and 25. It was in the hills, surrounded by zillions of trees, laid back lifestyle and atmosphere, friendly neighbours, sort of like a big country town and my home made me feel safe, loved and happy. I still miss it!

Pennsylvania, tucked along side the mountain with a mountain stream running through it. Beautiful, peaceful.
