There is still support for Iraq, obviously, and Bush has called for patience many times. Now, he says we have to give time for the surge to work. So my question is: Well, how much time?

First, it was supposed to be a "cake-walk", to quote the administration.
First, Saddam would be gone, we would be greeted as liberators; "Mission accomplished".
Then, it was until elections. Everything would be stable and all would be fine.
For a long time, the official line was "stay the course". If we only kept to our guns, the insurgencies would run out of energy and the troops could go home.
After the insurgency showed no sign of abatting, the new formula is a "surge", that is supposed to make everything all right. So far, nothing has changed spectacularly, but we are told to hve patience.
Well, how much patience? How much time are you willing to give this administration?

None. Bush has bad credit when it comes to Iraq. It's time to foreclose on his failed strategy.

If anyone else delivered the same dismal results as Bush has, not a soul nor lender would continue down the same path of fraud waste and abuse.

Imagine dumping water into a bottomless pit for four years while the owner says "Keep going. It will fill up. I promise".

War is hell, to put it bluntly. It's not a game, we can't treat it like one. Yes, a lot of things have been accomplished, at the same time, there have been things that have not happened as they should have. As far as the new strategy, there have been lot's of little stories coming through that a very positive. I believe it it this week that the official report comes out. Even the President, based on the results of the new strategy (it's not simply a surge of more troops), is talking about bringing home 5000 troops at Christmas time. How much time to give? I would guess until he's out of office, but the next guy had better have a workable strategy to succeed if this president doesn't get it done.

As much time as is needed to finish what we started. The only other option is defeat.......or as some like to say re-deployment. There are many dynamics in Iraq that are hard for us to understand. Iraq is made up of tribal peoples, even in Baghdad. These "tribes" are more loyal to their own than to the nation of Iraq. For the first time in modern history these tribes are finally setting aside their differences and cooperating for the common good of the nation. This change has only started to take place in the past few months. It is no coincidence that this is the same time that the surge is taking place. There were mistakes made in tactics in the early part of this war, but there has never been a war in which mistakes haven't been made. In a historic context, the mistakes that were made are fairly minor, but as most people have no knowledge of history, these mistakes are blown way out of proportion. For the first time in history, this country and region have been given a chance to live under a government that is self-determined. Because of this Iran is spending billions of dollars to undermine the effort. If there is a self-determined Iraq, Iran is fully aware that the mullahs will have to turn over power to the people, and that scares the crap out of Iran's leadership.
One tidbit of information that I find fascinating. In the U.S., if you have to wait in line to vote, people complain and whine. The accusations of voter fraud, and voter dis-enfranchisement are heard on every news cast(I use that term losely). Yet in Iraq, from the first truely free elections in the nation's long history, the voters were willing to chance being shot at, or blown up, and there were very few complaints. And since you have never talked to anyone that has been on the ground in Iraq, how can you say that nothing has changed? I know you haven't talked to anyone that been on the ground, because of the nature of your question.

None, my patience ran out years ago, he already proved himself to be an utter incompetent failure. Anyone who STILL doesn't get this, Democrat OR Republican is living in a fantasy world.

And you think time limits can be set for a war in progress? Please go back and re-read your history books. The war is over when the job is complete!
