I love Eddie Cochrane. He died by the age of 21, which made his accomplishments all the more so astonshing. Much like Buddy Holly, he wrote many of his songs, which almost unheard of at that time. But he was popular during the late fifties, which meant he was influenced by Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly.

Buddy Holly.Just like the Beatles,he was young and bristling with genius. Carl Perkins,Gene Vincent,Jerry Lee Lewis,Eddie Cochran, were among those that were innovators of their genre. There's always a lot of imitators.

Since you are mentioning the 40s, you can be sure that Louis Jordan is my favorite. Though most 'experts' place rock and roll's birth in the mid-fifties, Louis was rockin' with 'Saturday Night Fish Fry', 'Caledonia' and 'Choo-Choo Ch-Boogie' in the mid-40s.
Do you doubt this? Check out the rock-n-roll hall of fame!
