I am not stupid- I know that pets do not NEED clothing. I have a 2 year old, small dog that I love dearly and take very good care of, and yes, I occasionally put clothing on her. It's not cruelty nor is it hurting the pets in any way.

Yes, it is sometimes done for the owner's own entertainment but that doesn't make them a bad or irresponsible pet owner. There are also positive reasons for pets wearing clothing such as, it keeps their fur from getting dirty, it keeps them warm if they are small, and it makes them stand out more.

So, what do people get so irate about it? It's not that big of a deal- lighten up!

I just find it offensive for people to spend an absurd amount of money on things that their pets don't need, such as clothing. Did you know that the industry that you contribute to by buying dog clothes is worth about $41,000,000,000. When I read about it in Business Week a little while ago, I was appalled. Can people really spend that much money on pets, when so many other places can benefit from such a huge amount of money? It is just another sign of America's perverse materialism and lack of concern for more important things than pets.

So long as the clothes are not causing the pet any discomfort people don't care. some people may feel the clothes could be too hot for a dog which already has a thick coat of fur and if you add clothes on it in a country where temperatures are above 85 degr. may be very unbearable for the pet.

Well you see, people have their own opinions. And some people find it silly. And if people do not agree with you and your doggy dressing, than that is their opinion. Don't let it crumble your world. I am sure you may not like other peoples ideas of entertainment. You know like boxing, which is entertaining to some and terrible cruelty to others. Get it? Just remember, opinions are like buttholes, every body has them and some of them stink! Do your thing, do watch cha wanna do!

It implies the pet owners think that animals have the same ability for rational thought, self consciousness, and intelligence humans do, which many ( including me ) find morally incorrect or insulting. in short, it is not natural

I had a dog with an allergy to oils from certain plants and he really benefitted from wearing a tee-shirt, so that his belly (where there was less fur to protect the skin) was covered.

If your dog doesn't seem to mind and his skin doesn't seem to mind - then go for it. My dog is too "earthy" to wear frou-frou clothes. Yet, he has a winter coat and a rain coat he wears on our walks. I think it is cute!

A lot of people just think it's silly and unnatural.

To me it demonstrates that the pet owner has more money than brains.

They are jealous because the animals look cuter than they do.
