Hoisted on his own petard.
He helped make the current environment for hostile for the GLBT community, and took advantage of that hostility.
It's too bad.

...and it really gets ugly when one of the Meerkats turns on one of her own too. Flower will kick her daughters from the burrow to prove a point and then sit back and watch from afar as she suffers.
Is Craig the Washroom's Senator being punished for something. Who'd he p*ss off or on, as the case may be.
Pardon the expression but are you telling me that no one could have warned Craig? No one?!?!
I think someone had it in for Craig. We can send a man to the moon but we can't stop him from going to a toilet where his career will drown? I mean a few words to the effect, "trouble in Stall 2' or something.
What could be worst for a Republican senator?
To answer the question posed here, this is just treatment served up as a harsh dessert.
(Wow, he could have had a V-8.)

A bite harsh for a man thinking about having sex. I wonder what would happen if we put an hot looking under cover female cop in front of a bathroom, just around a corner or any other public space making sexual suggestive gestures to men and then arrested everyone that followed her? I think we all know that answer. Can you say double standard?

He did this to himself. I don't think it was his "just dessert", except that he did plead guilty in court and then change his song once he was out. That and he lied about the conditions in which he was arrested.
Idaho's gotten some pretty bad press coverage lately, first our ex-Gov (Kempthorne. eew.) and then this.
I don't see why the Republicans didn't do the same thing to the other senators that have been caught doing illegal things.

A huge waste of resources. An recent article I read: "It's unsettling that more people here in the land of the free aren't at all discomfited at leaving it up to the prognostication skills of Sgt. Karsnia and his crack team of B-men to determine what crimes people might have committed if not for the mind-reading and daring-do of Minneapolis' Special Forces Bathroom Unit."

Craig pled guilty, so he is guilty. Further, it sounds as if he reached a plea deal back then. Disorderly conduct can mean anything, like playing your trumpet at 2:00 a.m., but he knows what he is and what he wanted, so he copped a plea on disorderly conduct, thinking he could avoid the sex charge. He is just another Republican hypocrite, and he should not be in the Senate.

I wonder what would've happened if Idaho had a Democrat for governor...
another Vitter? or would the GOP tell him to resign so badly?

He is my Senator and he needed to go. He copped a plea for pete's sake.
Us Idahoians don't tollerate a breakdown in Family Values.
Bush carried this state by with 70% of the vote. We are value voters and this man fell short.
