I will be in Rio and as a tourist would like to see a football match at Maracana stadium. My understanding is there is a match between Vasco de Gama and Flamengo on September 16? Where can I buy tickets and can I buy them the day of match? How early should I get there and are these good teams to watch?

As Flamengo is the most popular team in Brasil and they are playing city rival Vasco, it could be a difficult ticket - but then again, Maracan seats 200,000 plus.

You might want to check with a travel agent - my agent was able to hook me up with tickets.

Otherwise, I'm fairly certain if you get there early enough, they would probably have tickets available or if you have enough money, someone will sell their tickets. There are also some online options

It's easy: arrive there two or three hours before the match, and buy the tickets.
Brazilians can buy tickets online (bankline) where the credit cards are of some brazilian bank.
