Not nine months ago there were missle tests and underground nuclear explosions (sort of). Now they're dismantling their nuclear program and being taken off the state sponsored terrorism list. No invasion. No lives lost. No spending hundreds of billions (nearing one trillion) of dollars on some ridiculous occupation.

Diplomacy.

Even $2 billion dollars a year in aid is a whole lot cheaper than an invasion...

I appreciate those of you who don't think we can trust North Korea. It's a reasonable point of view. So what would you do? Trust has to start somewhere. We can start to trust each other and build a good relationship and move forward from there. North Koreans are, in fact, human beings, just like you. They would rather have a good relationship than a bad relationship, just like you. If you harbor the point of view that we can never trust them and they are always one step away from dropping a bomb on us, then we should just annihilate them all now, right? Honestly, if trust is impossible then f*ck em. Let's shoot them all. Why waste time with any of this other crap? Let's shoot everyone in Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia while we're at it. Heck, let's vaporize everyone living outside the US! No more trust issues! No more illegal immigration either. It's such a simple solution. I wonder why we haven't done it already?

Good Diplomacy? I beg to differ with that point. We have offered them free food, & oil for heating for their harsh Korean winters. We also have no guarantee that this promise will be kept. This is only a stop gap measure to make us think our President has done something great; he hasn't! We are a nation in debt to others to the tune of trillions of dollars, we can barely afford to run our cars & the cost of heating our homes has gone up considerably, we have hungry & homeless wandering our streets, children doing without medical care etc. Our government is now trying to cut Welfare to those of our own by raising the requirements to such a point that many more will be doing without & all to give to North Korea something they may or may not hold themselves to in their promises to us. After all, they have China that they can always call on to renew their supply of nuclear weapons! I don't happen to think this was in any way a good deal for the American public.

And all without coming onto the television and threatening a "nucular holocaust".

We have a war agenda in the Middle East. The neoconservative movement has been planning it for years. It has nothing to do with WMDs, or terrorists, or anything else that will come out of Bush's mouth. The North Korea conflict would have ended in invasion if the administration had already wanted to invade North Korea. Because they didn't, they failed to impede the international reconciliation process.

The Thing: "You can trust kim jong il as far as you can throw him"... To be fair, you can throw him pretty far, especially if you're The Thing.

So what sort of candy words do you think of Condi could desire to whisper to that syphilitic lunatic to cajole him at quit his nukes? It did not do a damned little bit of solid whilst Madame Secretary Madeleine Albright WALTZED with the little bugger. She even delivered him a basketball from the Harlem Globetrotters. did not do slightly solid. perhaps Obama can play slightly one-on one with the dwarf and enable him win - as quickly as they talk "with out pre-circumstances" of path. Then Obama can load the nukes onto Air stress One and fly living house like a brilliant old hero. we are going to throw The Messiah a ticker tape parade down what's left of Wall highway. REPEAT: you are able to desire to be an fool to believe the North Koreans. fact: Kim Jong Il has NO intentions of giving up his nuclear application with out a combat. He tore the website out of his dictionary that has the word "negotiate." The little SOB lies like a rug.

Giving in to those idiots was not good diplomacy. They will reopen the nuke factories in a few years so we can kiss their butts again. Clinton already used diplomacy to buy them off before. What happened? We are weak and stupid when it comes to dealing with bullies. Always have been. Except when TR was president.

Bush never punished them for testing nuclear weapons. Apparently nuclear weapons in North Korea is fine with republicans, but Iraq, who was no threat to us, must be handed to Iran on a silver platter.

Quickly? Your kidding. This all started during Mr Clinton's administration. I don't believe it's over by a long shot

Do you have any idea how many troops we've had stationed in South Korea for the last 60 years to keep the North Koreans in their place. Here's a clue IT AIN'T DIPLOMACY THAT HAS HELD THEM BACK.

Nothing has been solved. This is only a continuation of "We PAY - They PLAY".
Clinton paid them to stop their nuclear program. They took the money, and as we now know, they continued to develop their nuclear bombs.
Proof that you can not pay extortionists, and expect them to KEEP THEIR WORD!

Not so quick ... Remember Clinton/Carter had a similar agreement in 1994.
