You can train a pet to go outside and not in the house. When you try that with children, the neighbors complain.

I would rather have pets. The reason why is because even though they require lots of love, is expensive to raise and care for, at least with pets, they give you undying love. They just want you to be there for them, always happy to see you. You do not have to worry about them going to school, what would happen there. Are they going to be in some type of gang? a cult? a menace to society?
And, you can get your pet(s) spayed or neutered.
And, for me, I would have more patience with a pet than with a child. And I know they won't talk back and traveling with them won't be a pain, either. Give them a treat, tell them you love them, pat them on the head, rub their belly......
I am 30 years old and I still do not want children-at all. I would be much happier with a dog and that is it.

Both.

On a side note there was just a study done that shows that people who have children that grow up in households with pets are less likely to have asthma.

We DO have pets and not kids - at least for now.

That is a question with answers that will change depending on your state of mind and life.

Younger folks will go for the pets as we have so far. But we know eventually we want kids - in our heads - but we just haven't been bitten by that bug yet.

So far the pets (birds) don't need changing, college tuition or extravagant Sweet Sixteen parties.

We like it like that ;).

Pets, because I've been taking care of people's pets for two years, and I'm not able to have a baby anyway.

I would say both. But if I had to choose, children. I love kids and babies and I think, although children may be more "work", and as much as I like pets, I think family is more important. But I would want both, and I think I probably will end up with both.

I would MUCH rather have pets. I despise children. I do have pets and I love them more than I would ever love any child.

Great question. You get a star!
