I would assume that someone who is pregnant and working at wall-mart cant afford to take a lot of time off.
Wallmart has jobs that you can do that will not require lifting and climbing. Your doctor should give you a note describing any restrictions you have to give to your work. They will work with you during your pregnancy to make sure you are safe. Trust me they don't want you hurt any more than you do. It would be a lawsuit waiting to happen :)

Talk it over with your doctor. If this is a job you have done for some time, it should not be that much of an issue, if on the other hand you have just started this job then it could also be normal aches and pains from doing something you never did before. You should also talk to your HR person and see if there is anything available that is lighter duty. I used to work in a factory, and the women there did not take off or work a lighter job until they were within 6 weeks of delivery, unless of course the job required a lot of bending and the baby was in the way. Also do not allow yourself to become run down by not getting the rest you need when you are not at work, get to bed earlier or take a nap when you get home.

I am an Assistant Manager at a Wal-Mart that is under construction to become a Supercenter...I was on overnights working freight for 12 hours per day 4 days per week for the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy. I am now due this week and just started working less hours last week...now I'm at 6 hours per day...my point being, check with your doctor to see how much you should be lifting. I wouldn't go on a ladder way too risky as far as falling. But keep working if you can, the more active you are the easier your labor will be, plus you will need the money for baby.
As far as the medical leave vs personal leave question...yes you can take a personal leave, this would be a leave without pay. A medical leave would require your doctors o.k. to go on leave and to return to work. If you have short term disability look into a medical leave if you REALLY need to be off work, because then you will get paid. Go talk to your personnel Manager or Store Manager for more info....that's what they get paid for!!!

I'm 91/2 weeks pregnant and I feel your pain. Where I work, I'm on my feet all day, lifting heavy boxes of product, bending over, remerchandising, building displays...you name it. Of course this stuff never bothered me before. I love my job and for that reason I'm going to be working through it. I just feel like when your pregnant, you should keep active and keep doing what your doing. I have an apple in the afternoon and that seems to help a little. Pregnant women are not invalids, unless you have a high risk pregnancy. If you are in that much pain, then talk to your doctor. If it's mild aches and pains, that's normal. I also don't think you can take medical leave just for being pregnant unless you are having complications. See your doctor.

If you've got a doctor's note saying you have to do less physically strenuous work, Wal-Mart can't really argue with it. I think there are laws against it and everything. Instead of taking a leave of absence, why not talk with your supervisors about a change in job description until you have the baby? Perhaps you could switch to working a register. It also depends a lot on who you work with and how understanding they are of your situation. My co-workers won't let me lift anything they think might be heavy, and they wouldn't dream of having me climb a ladder. Congrats!

I have always been told that you are not supposed to lift more than 20 lbs. when pregnant. Is there anyway you could be moved to a different position that doesn't entail lifting and such until you give birth? Get a doctor's note and they have to move you to a different department. As far as a leave of absence its only 12 weeks.

You need to think about the well being of your child first. Take that time off definitely. Then if you want to work there still talk with management about a less strenuous job. Just don't risk health problems. Congrats and good luck!

Take what ever time you can.Don't let anyone tell you what to do listen to your gut feeling. You need to do what your body is telling you to do.If you are really tired then your body is telling you to take a break. Its really important to pay attention while you are pregnant its not just you that you are looking after anymore. Talk to your DR.
As for the reason for leaving i am not sure how you go about that. All the best in your pregnancy. Good luck

if you are only 2 months along and already considering taking a couple of weeks off, you might need to find a job that won't require lifting things and climbing ladders you won't be able to do that job much longer anyway, maybe speak with your manager and suggest you get lighter duties for the rest of your pregnancy.

I would take a leave from your job, to protect you and your pregnancy if you are experiencing pain. Check with your dr, they may be able to put you a medical leave of absence from your job, if you are concerned with losing it.
