Technically, there doesn't have to be starvation.
There are two problems which cause starvation to persist.
1. The logistics and economics of getting food where it is needed is one problem. Alot of the places where starvation levels of nutrition exist are also places which experience some other aggravating condition, war, political instability, dictatorship or some other condition.
So for instance, starvation in Darfur is caused primarily by the ongoing Janjaweed Militia attacks on food convoys and incursions into farmlands to burn crops.
In Iraq and Afghanistan because of hostilities near starvation environments persist because both countries have more than 50% of their people unemployed and therefore unable to feed themselves.
In parts of China, starvation exists primarily as a result of ethnic minority status and / or environmental degradation which has caused the total collapse of subsistence farming communities in about 1/3 of the western part of China.

Why does the United States have to fix every problem in the world? How about some other countries helping for a change?
1) Because people live in a desert.
2) Because they have too many children.
3) Because they don't have the will to grow crops.
4) Because they are lazy.
5) Because they have no jobs or money.

yes, there is a book that explains it all, this book is called the holy Bible, and it says the poor will always be with us, since the U,S, has tried to feed the world for the last 60 years or so and there is no improvement yet, there must be another answer such as tell these people to work ,plant crops etc, so they can eat rather than lay around and drink their home made wine etc, and even after we feed them they are still complaining that the white man is to blame for their starving,
I have been in Africa and many other country's and not many of them will show any gratitude for the white mans efforts to feed and supply $ billions in medical help for them, why the hell should we give them any thing any more??

There is starvation in the world because there are dictators that starve people. The food is not the problem. There is enough food to feed the world 10 times over. The dictators are the problem. In order to get the food to the masses it has to go through these cheesy governments who sell the food on the black market and make money for themselves. We can send in food all day, but if it doesn't get to where its supposed to go there is nothing we can do.

It's a sad issue, but overwhelmingly up to date ! Unfortunately, people suffer from hunger in what we could call mayor part of the globe...I don't think this could be solved overnight, but if we were just a little more aware of those who starve and don't have homes, this world might become better place ! If for example 1% of our incoms should go for the poor, it would undoubtedly be possible to solve many problems of the refugees and the homeless...

Rich countries and becoming more richer because they do not share their wealth with poor countries. Although some made trickles in the form of aid, there is often a condition to let the rich countries to exploit the natural resources of the poor countries.

1. Most food problems are caused by corrupt governments and internal wars... Darfur, in the Sudan, for example
2. The US does more by giving aid, both governmental and private, than any other nation on the planet....
3. Sucks to be us though... when we help, we are condemned for interfering or nation building... when we stay out of it, we are condemned for being greedy capitalist....

The world and the U.S. are doing little to solve this. Global Warming is much more important, though 18,000 kids die each day from hunger in the world. The cause is Socialist and Communist governments that don't allow free markets where parents can work to provide for their kids. A good Solution is orgs like Compassion International that feeds kids in desperately poor areas. My family sponsors a kid in Haiti and make sure she will be OK. Many more need to do this for $32 per month
