ok so i really want to be on broadway, im planning on auditioning for the musical theatre program at university of northern colorado in a couple of weeks and i was just wondering if anyone had anytips on auditioning for a college program. im taking private voice lessons, dance lessons and a musical theatre class so im at the studio four days a week. Im fairly new to the musical theatre thing i just did my first show this past summer but it has something i've always been pasionate about but have been unable to do it because of tension with my mom. i do have a back up plann so when/if i get into unc i will double major with chemistry ( hopefully that will always be a back up plan) but can you guys give me tips for auditioning for a college and some voice warm ups or whatever that i can do at home on my piano on my days off from the studio?
thank you all soooo much i truly appreciate it!!!~

You haven't got a chance of succeeding. I am a drama major alum and my daughter is a muscial theatre alum of UNC.. It is perhaps the last place in the world to go to become a professional actor. But that is only part of your undoing, your double major assures your failure, because you cannot succeed if you have a back up. You can only succeed because you have no back up and you have to succeed. Another fault in your plan is wanting to be on Broadway. There are no jobs on Broadway! Let's say there are 20 musicals on Broadway, how many jobs is that for the 100's of thousands of really good and widely experienced actors and singers, and all the leads are going to big name actors to sell tickets, further reducing the available jobs. You want to go to college to be an actor? Go to Yale or Purchase college or Julliard. UNC is a fraud if they claim they are training you for a career in musical theatre. If they did that, my daughter would be an actor instead of an office manager. So, my friend, do you really want to be an actor, and struggle for years to eke out a living, or are you quite content to be a chemist with luxuries and necessities just like everyone? I loved UNC and my theatre experience there. It just did nothing to help me become an actor except give me some acting experience which I could have gotten almost anywhere. You should have had the training by now on how to audition, it is probably too late to learn in time for UNC, maybe not a bad thing. My big tip is be a chemist, it is a lot easier than being an actor. Want to talk more about it? Click on my name, read my profile, and write me at my aol address.
