READ THE SNIP
ABU-DHABI, August 31 (RIA Novosti) - Saudi Arabia's religious police are insisting that authorities of Medina, one of Islam's holiest cities, should build separate sidewalks for women, the Kuwaiti Al-Qabas newspaper said Friday.

The country's Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (CPVPV), tasked with enforcing Sharia law, believes men and women should not be allowed to mix on the streets of the Islam's second holiest place, where the Prophet Muhammad is buried.

The clerical police, or Mutaween, are authorized to arrest unrelated men and women caught socializing, anyone suspected of being homosexual or a prostitute, and to enforce Islamic dress codes.

Once again, the Saudi authorities and the so called Committee for blah blah blah have managed to come up with another law that is so absurd that it almost makes me want to cry. Why do they have to take Islam to such an extreme? Do they know that the prophet used to meet women when they wanted to ask him questions and that Aisha (his wife) used to meet men to answer their questions? I'd like them to tell me where exactly they get all this BS about segregation, which is done to such an extreme in this country, that homosexuality is becoming a large problem due to the lack of socializing with the opposite sex.

I think that having separate sidewalks would help keep the sexes apart. Of course the Saudi custom of women wearing burqas in public prevents the women from being seen, but does not prevent a man from approaching a burqa and whispering, "You are the most ravishingly beautiful woman in the world," or meet me in the utility room."
It might even be more effective if women were simply forbidden to be in public places at all.

Its odd to think the the very people who want to make these stupid laws are here after an act of intercourse between a man and a woman I would bet my last penny that some of these couples were not even married . Thank God that I don't live in that very stupid country. As for a holiday there my advice would be to everyone is "forget it"

Unfortunately, this country is pretty much running the US today, no matter how stupid we might think their laws and customs are.
