I want to spice up my iPod.

I'd love to hear some suggestions for some good cowboy music. I'm not looking for modern country. I'm talking hardcore, ridding in Santa Fe, cattle it up in Texas, music.

Thank you!

The greatest of that genre of all times are albums by "The Sons Of The Pioneers". Roy rogers was one of the original members of that group. Riders Of The PUrple Sage are a close second in the Western Songs area. The all time classic best song is probably the Sons "Cool Water". It's an awesome song. As to individual singers, Marty Robbins had many good ones such as "El Paso", Running Gun, Streets of Laredo and others. Gene Autry & Roy Rogers were two of the best known old Singing Cowboys of movie fame. The all time single singer song was probably Tex Ritters "High Noon" from the movie of the same name starring Gary Cooper. If you look up albums on some of the web sites look for two by Marty Robbins. The first was "Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs" and the other was "Return of the Gunfighter". Both were strictly western cowboy ballads.

Try the Sons of the Pioneers songs, "Tumbling Tumbleweed" and "Cool Water". Frankie Laine's "Ghost Riders in the Sky." The theme from the TV show "Rawhide". The theme from the TV show "Have Gun Will Travel" These are oldies, but you might enjoy them.
