the play is supposed to be for Little Women. The director says that it is very very hard and that the actresses need to live up to the part. I dont know exactly what part i am auditioning for but i am auditioning. Any scripts that would be good to use? This is my first play and i am a freshman. Any ideas on how to focus? I have a tiny bit of stage fright and when i do something wrong i tend to laugh it off i dont want to do that on stage. I have good memory skills so i dont need help with that but everything else i need help on. Good monolugues are a great help and ways to get into that part. Thank you very much web sites are a great help to

oh that sounds fun! I love Little Women. Ok well the first thing you should do if familiarize your self with the story if you haven't yet. Its a classic book and there is a movie (which is really good by the way I own it) Now I believe that Little Women is a musical, I don't know if there is a play version or not. Check and ask if it is a musical. If it is then you should listen to the music and practice at home. Do what ever you can to know the show. Remember that there is no shame in auditioning and getting cast in the chorus. A lot of amazing actors are cast in the chorus for shows and it is really hard to chose the leads. Especially since you are a freshman it will be hard. I know, I'm a freshman this year and I have auditions for my school's musical tomorrow. There are alot of talented kids out there.

ok well if you find out that it is a musical here is the link to the songs and lyrics

I don't know if you're doing the play or the musical, but it helps if you've read the book. Here's a link to the full book (as it was written a long time ago, it's public domain and therefore legal to post for free online): http://www.classicreader.com/booktoc.php/sid.1/bookid.23/

When our school did the musical, a sophomore won the part of Beth -- she's the second youngest sister, very sweet and proper. If you're very young-looking, you might be a better fit for Amy, the youngest, who's a bit of a pretentious brat but a very fun character to play.

Yeah, well, get a script of Little Women and pick a sister.

If you act when you audition you will not be frightened or break character by makeing an error or laughing, because the character does not do those things which are inexcusable on stage.

What you need to learn is what acting is and how to do it.

Have you read the book in the first place? If you haven't, you might want to take a look at it (not sure if you have enough time to do that): http://xroads.virginia.edu/~hyper/ALCOTT/LWHP.html .

I think it'd be helpful for you to know the personalities of the female characters so that you can portray them more easily and accurately.

Here's a link to the script of the movie, which you may find useful: http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_scripts/l/little-women-script.html .
Once you go there prepared, you should be less nervous.

Good luck!

is it the musical or the drama? i recently played jo in the drama. if it's the drama, it all depends on the role...if you are old enough to play meg, you want to be affectionate and caring but very prim and proper, if jo you want to be major tomboy but very caring. beth, be able to look sickly and just be simple and sweet. amy...basically be a little stuck up, proper, *****....if you're doing an adult role it's all different...email me actsmart29@yahoo.com for more details.

p.s. look for more classical type monologues (not shakespeare but definitely not modern abortion typr monologues)

Rent the movie and decide which part you want to play.

Otherwise, you will know nothing about the play at all.
