" I Am Ready For The storm"
The MacAllister family lived on the nearest farm to Sunshine MacGillicutty. They were a hardworking Scottish family and good neighbors. When Sunshine heard of the trouble they were experiencing, she immediately spoke to her boyfriend, U.S.Marshal Matt Dillon.
Matt:"Sure. I know about the fight over their land."
Sunshine:"When were you going to tell me about it?"
Matt:"Now Sunny........ This is something that the law will take care of."
Sunshine:"You mean you."
Matt:"That's right. Me. Not YOU."
Susnhine:"Matt...They are good friends of mine and I will NOT sit idly by and let a bunch of hooligans steal that land from them."
Matt:" Do you know (4)Which way is north?"
Sunshine:"Of course I do."
Matt: "Well.....Their farm lies South of here. As your boyfriend and as YOUR MARSHAL, I am telling you to stay away from there. I'LL handle it!"
Sunshine:"(5) I'm accustomed to better conversations with you, Matt. You might as well of told me to go to my room!!" She stomped off, leaving him to fix his own lunch.
Sunshine rode out to the MacAllister spread. It was a "bonny" farm. Located by a lake, with fertile fields, it was indeed prime property.
Colin:"Hello, lassie. What brings you out here?" Sunshine got off her horse and shook his hand.
Sunshine:"I heard about the demands that those dad burned Folgers made. Everyone knows this land is yours, fair and square. And I just want you to know.... I stand by your side, Colin MacAllister. Even if (6) My Grandparents on my mother's side were NOT Scottish. But they were.
I'm ready for the storm, my friend."
Matt had ridden up while she was speaking........ "SUNSHINE!! (2) You got a nickle ?" She nodded her head. "GOOD!! That is exactly what our relationship will be worth if you do not get out of here and let me do my job!"
As Sunshine was in the process of raising her chin in defiance, shots rang out!! Matt fell off his horse. Colin dragged him to shelter as Sunshine started shooting.
Folger:" MACALLISTER!!!!!! Get the hell off this land!!"
Colin: " It belongs to me and you know it!! You can't just march onto my property and expect me to turn it over to you. You find some other land for your cattle!"
Folger:" (3) Go back home, you damn foreigner!"
Colin's son shouted out....."We ARE home, mister!!"
Matt tried to draw his pistol but he was in too much pain.
He saw Sunshine reload her pistol and crawl behind a large rock.
More shots rang out.
Colin:"(1) We ain't giving up, Folger. This is our land and we aim to stay here."
Matt knew Sunshine well enough to know that she wasn't going to stay put for long! He watched in horror as she stood up, screaming (7) "No one lives forever!!" As she fanned her pistol , Folger and two of his men breathed their last.
CUT TO COMMERCIAL
Once they got home, Sunshine took care of Matt's wound. As he lay there in bed, he heard her playing her guitar in the next room....... "Why so far away, darlin'? Come in here and seranade me."
Sunshine came back into the bedroom....."I thought it might be best to stay apart for a while....At least until you calm down and get over your anger with me."
Matt:"Come here." She sat next to him. "I'm not angry with you.
Ohhhhhhh, SunnyMac." He drew her down to him and hugged her. "It's obvious you're never going to listen to me. I might as well try to get used to it!"
Sunshine smiled at him...."I'm listening NOW, baby. What do you have to say?"
Matt touched her face gently ........ "I love you. That's all.
I just love you."

This isn't a funny story, but it's true.
My great grandparents were originally from Kentucky horse country. But, times were hard, way back then (Buddy, you got a nickel?) My great grandmother said "I am accustomed to better." So Great grand daddy hitched up the wagon and they headed--which way is North? To West Virginia and Pennsylvania to the land of coal and steel mills to find work. It was a long trek in those days, but they said, "We ain't givin' up. No one lives forever. I never knew them but they are the reason why we are Pennsylvanians and not a Kentuckians.

My Grandparents were from Poland and were poor when they arrived in U.S.A.. In my gereration I'm accustomed to better because we said "we ain't giving up and which way is North." So we went to work in the factories where you got a nickle for every piece you put together. Oh well a nickle or a dollar no one lives forever.I say "go back home" all you people who don"t want to work for a nickle.
