If it can be proven that an adult supplied
the drugs or alcohol that contributed to
the death, the adult may well face both
civil and criminal liability.

It depends on what jurisdiction you're in, whether or not a legal precedent has been set that makes the person responsible.

Although criminal actions require precedent, civil lawsuits are almost a guarantee... the nexus between furnishing the alcohol and the impaired driving makes the adult liable for civil damages.
