Most all those had Oil Injection,,,,just pour oil into a tank and it does the rest.

If yours does not have a separate oil tank,,,or Oil System has been disabled over the years(not unusual)

A Safe and sane Ratio is 32:1
4 Ounces Oil per 1 gallon Gasoline(USA measures)

If you should ever happen upon OLD,ORIGINAL Specs,,,,
It will probably state 16:1,,,20:1 or 24:1,,,,which is a LOT more Oil.

Dont be concerned by using Much Less Oil in these modern times.

Oil Premix ratios are established according to OIL,,,not ENGINES.
Modern oil has changed greatly,,especially 2 cycle oil

Plus,,the MFGRS are always VERY conservative in their reccomendations.

32:1 or even 40:1 are TOTALLY,ABSOLUTELY Safe and will give Excellent Lubrication for that Ol' Yamaha.

The Synthetic Oils seem a bit expensive,,,,but they are vastly superior and worth the extra $$.
They "pay for their price difference" in Spark Plug Savings

Good Luck with that ol' thing,,,they were all kinda cool,,and a whole lotta fun.

Look in the manufaturs book.... but here is an easy fix... look on the back of the 2 stroke oil bottle....

It will tell you how to mix the gas and oil, and how many gallons of gas to oil ounces to get the correct mixture...

most 2 strokes run good on a 40:1 ratio, but some call for a mixture as lean as 50:1 and some as rich as 20:1.

I have had a 2 stroke machine my whole life, and I have ran many mixturs in my life. I ran a mix of 40:1 and have had no troubles with it.

1 bottle of 2 stroke oil +

5 Gallons gas = 40:1
4 gallons gas = 32:1

Hope this helps....

I would check the dealer or look for a service manual for your bike . 32:1 was a common mix with 50:1 being more recent.
Some bikes had an oil tank and a metered injection system rather than premix in the tank.

40:1 should be fine using a good quality oil. Measure carefully and don't be tempted to " add a splash" to be on the safe side. Excess oil actually has a detremental effect on your fuel/air mixture making it leaner because more oil means less petrol.

32:1 is the common # for all Japanese 2 strokes.

32 to 1 is the norm for 2 strokes.

Go to the manufacturer's website and look around for an owner's manual (either on-line or an order form!). As a general rule of thumb, MOST two-strokes usa a ration of about 50:1, but I wouldn't try it without knowning for certain. Good luck!

Find the on-line owner's manual or ask a Yamaha dealer.
