Each grant will have its own requirements for what needs to be included in the application. This information is often available on the website of the foundation or other grantor you are applying to.

What agency are you writing a grant for? What foundation will you be applying for financial assistance? What are your purposes, projects, and mission? Do you have a 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service?

If you are already a tax exempt nonprofit with 501(c)(3) status then you will want to check out the Directory of Foundations, at your local library (large city or large university) will most likely have current copy for 2006 or 2007. In the directory are a list of typical formats for a grant.

Search "Nonnrofit Grant Writing McNamara" on Google or Yahoo. It has a ton of resources for writing and developing your grant writing skills.

Each foundation lists there own requirements in what a grant should look like. I would be glad to send you a copy of a grant I wrote for a nonprofit if you wish to see the format that a foundation will typically use.

Best Wishes in Your Grant Writing!
