I am very chemical sensitive and have found environmentally friendly products for cleaning my laundry & home.
Bounce, Downey etc have many chemicals in them that continually set off a "gas".
I now use SA8 Fabric softner. I fill a spray bottle 3/4 water & 1/4 softner & spray about 6 sprays on a wash cloth or directly in the dryer. It is concentrated & lasts a long time. Keeps my clothes fresh without all the chemicals and has helped my clothing last longer without all the unneccessary chemicals.

I don't use any dryer sheets because they are made of fiberglass and cause allergic reactions in some people as well as being bad for the environment. I use liquid fabric softner, but instead of adding it to the wash cycle, I put my clothes in the dryer, then pour a little fabric softner on a rag I use just for that purpose, wad it up into a ball and toss it into the dryer and let it run as normal. It freshens the clothes without any residue. I just re use the rag several times, then throw it in the washer and start over again.

Fabric softners or sheets will not prevent you from getting a shock when you touch things at work... Those shocks are caused by static electricity that builds up when the air is very dry and cold. Try putting some moisture in the air. At work you may not be able to do much about it unless it is a small company and you can use a small humidifier. At home use a humidifier or simmer water on the stove.

You can buy dryer balls which look a bit like dog toys, they are brilliant because they help dry the clothes quicker, they soften the clothes without chemicals, and they are a lot more environmentally friendly.I don't know where you live, but I live in the U.K. and I buy them from Lakeland. Try getting them on the web. They are very good.

Wal Mart actually sells Eco-environment dryer sheets. That are biodegradable. They come in scented and unscented. They work great too.
