What is it that you are trying to do? If you just want to be a practicing physician, you don't need either a master's or a Ph.D., but if you want to be a medical researcher, having both an MD and a Ph.D. would, in fact, be very helpful. My father was a scientific researcher, and he always said that he wished he had gotten an MD along with his Ph.D. My sense is that most people get the MD first, because it gives them ideas about what to research, but you could probably do it in either direction. You probably don't need a master's at all, if you are going for the Ph.D. and MD.

It's not clear, but are you referring to an intent to obtain a PhD or are you a bit confused on what is involved in obtaining a MD? If you are confused, you can visit this excellent web site for a primer on what is involved in becoming a physician: http://people.howstuffworks.com/becoming-a-doctor.htm

However, in case you are intending to obtain a PhD, it is logical to sustain a course of study through to completion before engaging in an alternate program. Whether it is medical school first or your PhD pursuit won't matter, assuming you are resolute in your goals. But you should keep in mind that a majority of students change their initial plans once they are fully engaged in medical school. You may find that if you did medical school first you might alter your plans to pursue a PhD. Conversely, having obtained a PhD may cause you to feel obligated to continue on a course that you no longer prefer.

My opinion---do med school first.

neither. you get your bachelors and then you go to medical school. why do you want all of this unnecessary extra schooling if you want to be a doctor? believe me, you will have plenty of studying to keep your mind happy
