Alloy wheels are definitely the standard on most bikes nowadays, ive always bought rims from mavic and they have always taken a battering. In fact the last two bikes i owned both cracked while the wheels were almost perfect! Different types of rims can be bought depending on how you ride and of course the more you pay generally the better the rims. Also alloy wheels will be a lot lighter and corrosion resistant . Hope this helps

u can put alloys on most cars without any alterations to the brakes. you have to make sure there is enough room for the calipers and they won't snag on balance weights. all wheels have different offsets which need to be correct for your car. this can be found from any reputable wheel stockist. i would recomend you get many quotes and even consider 2nd hand refurbished wheels. because halfords is the biggest certainly doesn't mean you will get the best advice and the cheapest wheels. good luck

Yes but use a torque wrench to tighten the alloys to correct ft/lbs. Wheel nuts unbalanced can fracture the alloy.

Its like putting on a different set of wheels, simple as that. Alloy wheels dont effect anything else, just makes your car look slick.

if they do rub the brakes when they are on the car you can just get some wheel spacers to bring them out a little

Yep. You'll get a better ride, too, because you'll reduce the unsprung weight - the main reason for having them.
