It sounds like you're lacking purpose and direction in your life. I understand that you want to do something that's meaningful. I wonder if fear may be holding you back. Honestly assess yourself to see if that is the case. Don't let fear hold you back from taking an opportunity that may be really exciting for you. I hope this helps you to think through your decision. Best of luck to you!

I'm soon to be 50, and I have some major problems. I have no direction in my life. All I know is that I have to keep going and do the best I can to be of service to others. That is a wonderful purpose. I don't think it's much direction though. I've never been here before, and I don't know what to do to give myself some kind of direction. I never thought I would live this long for one thing. I think that making plans helps, sometimes setting short term goals that are achievable in the foreseeable future helps us to attain long-term goals. That's the best I got. Good Luck
may peace be with you

yes.

but this is what i have learned your not so bad off as you think. the fact that your being so bothered about this is the begining sign's of better day's to come. what your experiencing is a bitter sweet desire for change. the fact that you feel like you have no direction is you begining to get sick and tired of the lack in your life. eventually with in the next couple of month's or in your own time you will come up with a game plan. mapping out what is discontenting you, what you wishe to change. when you do this figure out what exactly float's your boat? and persue a career down that path.

for me i want to right a novel in this life time and thought there is no time like the present and so picked up my journal and began righting. shockingly it's coming out nicely

the other thing is i want to do web design. and i just bought a book on HTML

so for you you'll find your niche.

good luck

Well, you aren't alone. A person's direction in life is determined by their objectives and goals, whether they are short or long term. What you need to do is find something to reach for, something interesting yet time-consuming. You need a decent distraction. Take up a few hobbies or learn something new.

Definitely no direction right now lol, I pretend that I do. I tell myself I'm waiting for this, waiting for that, and then I'll do something. But I really have no idea what it is I intend to do, if anything. So you're not alone!

I am a senior in college and I still have no idea what I really want to do. I have a major and am working toward it, but I am constantly reassuring myself, hoping that it is right for me. It's scary to think about what you want to do for the rest of you life, but you just have to have some other things in your life that you are excited for (even if it is as stupid as an upcoming movie/game/book/sport). You are definitely NOT alone. My professor in college once told me that most people really have no idea what they want in their life, but they are just fighting for the chance to find it. I am sure that if you keep looking, you will eventually find your way. Personally, I am still looking, but I have hope that I will find it. Even if you find someone who is so sure of what they want to do, deep down, they have some doubt about it.

Yeah totally!! After I sent in my college apps last year I had nothing to do and I felt so lost...before I had always been focusing on getting good grades and without that goal, I was totally aimless. Even now, I feel like I have no focus in my life, and I think I have anxiety =(

Yeah, I feel that life sucks sometimes. But I try to keep in mind that I should appreciate what I have and do what's best for myself. And that what's happeining to you is supposed to happen, so just enjoy the moment and know that you are doing fine.

Yep! Pretty much no jobs available anywhere, rent, gas, everything is so damn expensive!! I just hope that a new wave hits this country and my son, as well as everyone, don't have to suffer a poor economy in the future!

directions? you find them for yourself.

where do you want to be? who do you want to be?

then set forth going into that direction.

then your find direction, if not purpose.

good luck.

we all get lost sometimes, the point is to continue moving.
