If you live in a community property state, they can come after you. And there are some other states that have special rules concerning utilities that allow them to pursue other household members.

Is the bill from a timeframe when you actually lived there? And was there anything in your divorce settlement about division of debt?

They will go after anyone they think they can get to pay them money. If your name wasn't on the account, don't do it.
