Yes dvd/rw which means rewritable, you can delete what you don't want and do more on it, that is if your DVD takes rewritable disk which most do, check in your manual to see if it does. The plain DVD that is not rewritable can not do it.

All the DVD recorders that I know about can reuse disks (like a VCR), but you have to use the correct disks.

Reusable disks:
DVD -RW
DVD +RW
DVD RAM

Non reusable disks:
DVD -R
DVD +R

There are several types of recorders that you could choice from, for example I recently saw at Walmart:
1.
For $50 you could get a cheap one without a tuner. You would have to use something else as a tuner, such as your old VCR, a cable box, or (in Jan 08) a ~$20 digital converter box.

2.
For ~$200 you can get a highly rated DVD recorder with both analog and digital tuners.

3.
For ~$280 you can get a highly rated DVD/VCR combo recorder with both analog and digital tuners.

4. For even more money you can get a DVD/DVR combo

You need to check and see if your DVD recorder can accept DVD/RW discs. If it can than yes,you can record on them over and over.
