The message boards definitely had a way of malfunctioning when news articles showed Bush in a bad light. I suspect that yahoo had outsourced it and could not get control back. Incredible that they tolerated vicious crude posts on news articles about injured children, but removed service on political articles.
Yahoo Answers seems to be pretty evenhanded as far as their administration goes - so I doubt the bad service was Yahoo.
I think now maybe message boards are just too old fashioned to invest in a big new service. They are probably looking for something new.
If you search on a users name or alias in Yahoo search, you can still find the old boards, even though they are not active. Kind of strange, that.

What planet do you come from?.... The Internet is lots bigger than Y!A forums.... Or haven't you seen all the blags out there? The government doesn't even care to influence Y!A... And Y!A would certainly not be influenced by *anything* that the feds requested about day to day operations... after all, they still want to be a money making operation.. All the annoying rules and such are Y!A's own way of operating these forums... as is their right.. it's their ball.

I doubt that is the reason, but I wish it was back. This site is not conducive to debate or discussion. I think a large number (maybe not the majority) just use this as a discussion board anyway. Sometimes I feel like debating, or at least laying out my case effectively, but you just can't easily do that here, it isn't designed for that. .
