It's difficult to rate Presidents while they are in office. It's even more difficult to rate Presidents objectively when you don't have - and don't want to have - an objective means of valuation.

GW Bush suffers from Jimmy Carter disease - he just can't play the role as well as masterful media Presidents like Ronald Reagan or John F Kennedy, or even Bill Clinton.

Objectively, GW Bush isn't nearly as bad as the irrational Bush haters make him out to be. A few facts: he has maintained and expanded the world's largest economy while conducting, and winning, two foreign wars. He continues to keep US soil free from terrorist attacks six years after 9/11, fighting an international war against amorphous enemies who enjoy the de facto support of the majority party in Congress.

But for Bush-haters, his Texas accent wipes out all those accomplishments. Don't try to figure it out, it isn't rational.

The "worst president so far"? Let's keep it to the 20th and 21st centuries. I'd nominate Warren Harding and Jimmy Carter for last place, Ronald Reagan and Franklin Roosevelt for first.

Even though I'm from PA I'm still going to say James Buchanan. He did nothing do stop slavery from spreading into new territories. He believed that he had no power to stop it. He did nothing to threaten states that talked about succeeding from the union. Many historians put major blame on him for the Civil War just b/c of his weak position. You could also group Franklin Pierce in this group, for very similar reasons to Buchanan. Pierce also wanted to add more states and didn't really do anything to stop slavery. Herbert Hoover could be added b/c of his weak position during the Great Depression. Richard Nixon of course will be overshadow b/c of Watergate. (he wasn't a bad politician/president before Watergate but b/c of bad decisions he could def. be grouped into this category of worst presidents). Of course poor William Harrison could be added, not b/c of anything he did in office, just b/c he was only in office for about 30 days. I wouldn't say he was the worst, just unfortunate!

Wow, Judas went out on a limb, but I have to go along with him, Jackson had absolutely no regard for human rights, especially those of Native Americans, he was directly responsible for the deaths of more people than even George W.

Based on what?

Protection and defense of national interests/national security?
Foreign policy?
Defense spending?
Non-defense spending?
Tax increases and tax cuts?
Unemployment and job growth figures?
Improvements in education?
Health care?
Social security?
International trade?

It's not a popularity contest, it's an incredibly tough job that nobody can do to perfection. Some things can be controlled, other things must be managed.

You hire the person who has the integrity to face people with the truth, who can make the tough decisions (even when the decisions won't be popular), who will move the country forward and who will present a sense of strength to the rest of the world.

And when we choose our next leader, we should ask ourselves what will happen if the candidate we elect fails in even one of those areas?

Will (insert name here) be taken seriously by other governments? Does he/she act with integrity and inspire confidence? Does he/she have what it takes to be a Commander-in-Chief?

There are two presidents that I've got a problem with ,

Mckinley from the past because he just bought the Philippines and killed many innocent lives both American and Filipino all for the sake of getting the land .

George Bush because now because of the war in Iraq most of my uncles and older cousins in the Philippines only have the option of going to war in order for their families to gain money . I miss
my family .

It looks like most are in agreement, Bush of course. As the queen of hearts would say "off with his head", really we need someone for the people, not the oil rich, but ordinary people.
