The only places i see that are somewhat affordable are Mobile homes, but none have much of a yard. Are there affordable (Under $100K)rural areas anymore in Southern California? Thanks!

Wait for the bubble to pop. San Diego while lovely is one of the most overinflated real estate markets in California. Wait two years... but when the prices normalize, check out Ramona, farming/equestrian town in the foothills about 45 minutes out of town, or better yet, Julian, about an hour from SD, it's a gorgeous old town in the mountains that was originally a mining town but now is famous for it's apple orchards & pie. Julian is my favorite mountain town in all of Southern California.

Head east on I-8 until you get aroud Alpine. Rural, tho not as much as it used to be, nor as inexpensive. But as a general rule the further you get from the ocean the less expensive rents and land values.

Or, starting in Alpine, head south on the county roads. Get a good map, you'll see a bunch of little towns in the mountains. Jamul, Dulzura, Barrett Jct, Tecate (next to the bigger one in Mexico), Campo -- you want country living in SD County, you'll get it in these places.

They all used to be hell a few years ago, with an army of illegals streaming in from Mexico, and leaving a crme wave in their wake. But stricter enforcement and detection have moved the people smugglers further east, into the desert. So these areas are OK now, but do a drive thru and check 'em out yourself, and the prices for rentals or property

You will never see realestate of anysort be under 110k in calif..those days are gone forever...even when the bubble breaks...Mobile homes are even expensive...San Diego is a great place to live, but unfortunatly realestate is a farce, and over priced for what you get..
