Believe it or not, being able to touch a deceased loved one is considered part of the grieving process and starts the healing over the loss. Unless you have been put in a situation where you could not touch/see your deceased loved one it might not make any sense.

My family believes that to touch the body is truely letting go. I have never done but my mom and my grandma will touch there hands or face to say good bye. I guess its a respect thing. I believe that once a person dies they are no longer in there body. Theres nothing gross about it, its just kinda creapy!

You can touch any dead body if that's what makes you happy. I personally wouldn't touch any dead body, be my loved one or not, I know they can't feel me touching them and by the time they are in a coffin they are stiff and cold so I wouldn't want that to be my last impression of anyone.

My dad died when I was in the 1st or 2nd grade. My mom said that I touched his hand and rocked the coffin. So, I guess the answer is true.

True Loved one or friend- expression of mourning. I usually touch on hand as saying good-bye for last time-funeral. Even though they can't hear me, it doesn't matter. Last time I'll see their face.
