It's going to be a dead end for America.
There was no legitimate reason to start this war. Oil was the main reason. That's why, the whole world are mad at US and frustrated by its action.
If US doesn't find the way to withdrawal, it will get uglier than it is now.

When is US government will stop its greed for others natural sources and put stop on imposing power for its own interests and finally leave others alone before its too late.
These kinds of conducts will eventually catch up with US is already not!

I think the reason we went over to Iraq was about oil & not at all about Weapons of Mass Destruction. A lot of American & a whole lot more Iraqi lives have been "spent" in the process, not to mention massive amounts of money. To leave now would mean all of the lives went for nothing. No matter what we "the people" are told, we are going to be in Iraq for a very long time. So to answer to question, based on the reality of today & were we are today, yes.

And when we went into Iraq, it was understood by those planning & orchestrating, that we were going to be there a very long time. There is no way that I, nor should anyone else believe that the people of Iraq were going to accept us, an invading force, with open arms. Thanking us for killing the sons, fathers, brothers & cousins. No more than we would thank an invading force for coming over here & killing off unpopular political leaders & our family members in the process. Not to mention destroying the electrical, water & waste management infrastructure of large sections of the country, I sure made fans out of many an Iraqi’s.

I used to support it full heartedly but I recently became a Christian so I no longer support war. I do not support the war in Iraq and I don't think we should be there.

It is causing too much heartache and grief here at home and I can't imagine being in the Iraqis shoes...2,000 Iraqis died last month. 2,000! That is a lot of people.

I think Saddam was a very bad person and I believe that he was making WMDs, but Bush made a poor decision and a lot of troops have died. I know troops that have been over there and troops that are over there now. They want to help the Iraqis, but since I became a follower of the Lord, I know there is an alternative to fighting: Love.

The Bush family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was ridiculed, criticized and humiliated for 'not finishing the job' and ousting Hussein at that time. George W. Bush was selected President to 'settle the score' and satisfy the Bush family's vendetta.
Dick Cheney wanted all that OIL so that he and his Exxon-Mobil buddies could get richer and richer and richer feeding America's addiction to cheap, easily-accessible foreign OIL;
Ever since World War II, the giant U.S. military-industrial complex [which Eisenhower warned us about] recognized how profitable 'war' could be. So all the politicians were bought up, pricey lobbyists were hired, and special interest groups were formed to promote and encourage more 'war'. Thus, the U.S. got entangled in the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War; Vietnam and Desert Storm - all so that corporations like McDonnell-Douglass, Lockheed-Martin and Sikorsky (among others) could boost their sagging profits after years of peace.
Add to that the two 'newcomers' to the government war trough: the Carlyle Group and Halliburton both have direct ties to the Bush-Cheney White House, and have both made BILLIONS off this insipid 'war'.
From Day One, we were their for the wrong reasons. It is by far the most shameful episode in American military history. The American people were lied to, Congress was hoodwinked, and our valiant U.S. troops were conned into believing they put themselves in harm's way for honorable purpose.
Nothing could be further from the truth. We are in Iraq for OIL and WAR PROFITEERING, so that a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful.
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the rest of the war mongers deserve a special oil-soaked, blood-stained corner of Hell
where they can spend eternity, along with:
all 535 members of the most contemptible, incompetent, cowardly, arrogant, corrupt Republican-led Congress in history that stood by and watched as Bush ran rip shod over the U.S. Constitution, and
all 535 members of the most contemptible, incompetent, cowardly, arrogant, corrupt Democratic-led Congress in history that promised to end this war if elected, and - to date - have done absolutely nothing to keep that promise. MAY GOD DAMN THEM ALL!! -RKO- 09/03/07

No.The situation now is that the damage is done.If America leaves there probably will be bloodshed but that will not change by staying longer. If you stay six months longer the bloodshed will begin six months later. If you stay for a year longer, the bloodshed will begin a year later. You get the idea.
If you go now Iraqi's have the best chance to stand up and get whatever needs to take place before they are capable of running their own country again as fast as possible and US soldiers will no longer have to loose their lives to protect the ego of the pseudo Christian in the white house.

Yes, It has been a long while. We are there just because of the oil. Poor, innocent people are dying everyday for no reason. We are a crazy country with no brains in our heads! I HATE BUSH!!!!!

Yes, but I am not happy at how many things were done incorrectly. We are there and will be there for a while, no matter who gets into the White House, so we should do all we can in our own best interest. Anyone who feels Iran is no threat is nuts. Peace

The Invasion of Iraq was the biggest foreign policy mistake this country has ever committed.

EDIT: To those who are giving me a thumbs down I await your (intelligent ?) response to my assertion

Yes.

I was against going into Iraq after Saddam, because I knew the Democrats would betray us and end up supporting the Terrorists.
Democrats always end up supporting our enemies.
BUT.... now that we are there, we must stay there until victory.
We can Not surrender, like Democrats always do.
