I was victim of physical abuse and now I want a divorce. There is no kids or money involved. How long to get a divorce? Do I need to get him to agree with the divorce idea? We live in Florida. Thank you guys

No you do not need his permission or signature or anything else. Just file for divorce based on physical abuse and get a protective restraining order against him. You may want to contact a womans help group for further help in getting away from this guy. With a groups help they can rush this case into court alt faster but alot depends on his right to due process and how hes served his papers. You will probably need evidence of your allegations against him so you better start collecting any and all evidence you have. Contact the womans help group asap and good luck

Florida? It won't require a separation. The only wait would probably be between filing, and the court date. Physical abuse though, I'd get a lawyer. Uncontested voluntary divorces are about the only ones I'd try pro-se with...

Don't wait, but begin to document incidents of abuse.
If it happens, contact the local police and make a report. Do this EVERY time. Prepare to leave as soon as possible. Protect yourself and your stability, and get out.

well here in SC you can get a divorce though the dss office if you can prove physical divorce in 30 days check with them
