I'm not sure what you are asking about. To become a lawyer at all, you need to graduate from college, then spend 3 years in law school, assuming you go full-time. Then you take the Bar exam and start working for a law firm. You can be a good associate pretty quickly; if you are talking about how long it takes to become a legal superstar, I would say probably at least another 15-20 years.

I agree with Neniaf about the technical requirements to become an attorney, but in order to be a GOOD one you have to be equipped with a strong moral sense, which would of necessity preclude your representing certain types of clients (e.g., known drug dealers or foreign dictators exiled in this country).
