As far as what your looking for I would look at a 2000-2003 Toyota Corola, Ford Focus, Ford Escort, Nissan Sentra, Mazda 323, Chevy Calvlier, Stay away from the Dodge Neon the Kia's and the Hyundai. If you want a bigger car the only one I would buy is the Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable with a 3.0 V6. They are cheap to buy, cheap to fix and reliable. The korean cars of that model year will have already have served their expected life and will become costly to fix

Dodge has come out with some good in gas and cheap cars. They have the Dodge Caliber which is a 4 door good on gas and decently cheap. You can also find some good deals on used cars such as a honda civic. You can always find one of those at a decent price.

Doesn't heat much??? Anything cheap will be a piece of crap. Look for something older. Than you will get more for your money.
