why a Shoei? thats just how an advertisement started that encouraged me to buy a Shoei helmet then the ad went on to say--No other helmet in the world can surpass the handmade quality of a Shoei............. ad in Sept 07 Rider magazine. I was also encouraged to buy a Shoei by the praising reviews. All this was about full faced helmets I only buy and wear half helmets. My question how can a company that can make such a wonderful full face helmet make such a poor or cr.... half helmet?? Or are their full faced helmets not all that wonderful just way over priced? Maybe Shoei does not even make their half helmet? I know I made a huge mistake. But i have never saw a Shoei helmet. I purchased a Shoei half helmet it had very poor linings and a thin strap that easly twisted, are the full faced Shoei helmet like this????

Since nearly 40% of all impacts happen to the chin/face area, it's worthless to buy anything but a full face helmet. I have heard that Shoei half helmets don't live up to the reputation, but I have not had any problems with my Shoei helmet in the five years I've owned it.

Shoei did not make their money on wimpy "fashion" helmets for scooters and Harley riders, their reputation lies in protecting the heads of top racers during 100+mph crashes.

If you had to make a product that wouldn't protect anyway, would you put your top quality into it?

I know people who race on the tracks and most of them wear Shoei. But they wear the full face style which is required by the tracks. One guy got pushed off a curve at 110 MPH by an inexperienced rider and hit the haybales. He had a minor concussion and some nasty bruises and aches and pains but that Shoei helmet took the blow and saved his head.

I have several helmets. Two full face helmets by Shoei. They are the style that opens fully by pushing a release in the chin guard. They also have full face shields. I find them to be comfortable, strong, well made helmets.

To be honest, I bought my first Shoei because it was the only good lid that fit my big head, 65cm.

I have had three now and I find them to be very comfortable.

But yes, full face helmets are better for you.

Stay Upright.

I bought a Shoei as It's one of the top brands and worn by lots of racers as I figured they would be the guys to know about these things.

Though my head isn't worth as much as all these top motogp boys - it's priceless to me, so whilst I bought other kit from bike jumbles etc. I didn't skimp on my helmet.
