Nothing much unless there is a legal requirement such as a subpeona issued. Mostly just a general location and ISP provider. You can try looking at these 2 sites. Plug in an IP address and you can see what is provided.

Your ISP issues your IP Address. And most people have a dynamic IP address that your ISP changes every 24 hours or so. Pretty useless to anyone.

In the USA, the only way to get an ISP to release personal information ( name, telephone, address etc.) about a particular IP address is with a Court Order.

And Court Orders are usually only given out in the case of serious criminal activity.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

An IP address reveals your ISP, and to some extent, your machine. Most PC's have a dynamic address, which can change,
so an address can get "stale". To further complicate the issue, many users use NAT
(Network Address Translation) firewalls, which means that the address that the world sees is their router, not their PC.

Are you trying to find someone with an IP address, or trying to keep yourself secure?

I'm not going to post my e-mail address here, but you can contact me if you wish to discuss it.

The network only publishes your IP address.
Then, as every IP address belongs to somebody (usually your ISP) they may locate your city.
Your personal information is obviously on your ISP records, and they are not supposed to undisclose it. You have to read the privacy statements of your ISP, anyways it is illegal to them to undisclose that information if not requested by a judge order.
What you have to be aware off is about tracking cookies, spyware or giving your personal information to websites you are not certain if they are trustful.
Sometimes you may feel surprised visiting a website that welcomes you by your name. This happens when you already visited that website or a partner website that installed a cookie in your computer. That cookie is intended to remember you for the next time you visit the website, shouldn't be something to worry about, but keep your cookies under control, removing your cookies periodically is a good security measure.
