Reciprocal just means: 1 divided by the number you want the reciprocal of. Thus: reciprocal of 2 is 1/2, reciprocal of 3 is 1/3 ... reciprocal of x is 1/x.

You can work this out using the formula for reciprocal: 1/x
you get:
x = 1/x
multiply both sides with x, you get: x^2 = 1
written differently this gives: x^2 - 1 = 0, which you can rewrite as
(x+1)*(x-1) = 0
possible answers are thus +1 or -1.
Since the question was "what positive number", answer is obviously +1.

we have x = 1/x or x^2 =1 which gives x as +/_ 1.
as the question requires a positive number, the answer is +1.
