I am glad you asked! Contrary to what my fellow answerer's have posted, it is best to water early in the day. Daily watering is necessary when temperatures are sustained in the 90's and the lawn or garden is in full sun. The most common mistake is that most people rush the watering process and give a quick shower which only moistens the surface. It is imperative to give a good soaking at these temperatures to keep your thirsty lawn and plants alive. Watering at night can be lethal to lawns and gardens as that is when fungi and molds are most active. Moistened foliage will promote their growth and spread them throughout your property. Furthermore, wet lawns during the evening attract slugs which can further damage your landscaping.
I will post a couple supporting links below.

The best time to water is before 10:00 a.m. This way if there are any disease in the soil, the soil and leaves will have time to dry during the day. The leaves and plants are less likely to become infected.
You can water after sunset. As a matter of fact, you can also water during the hottest part of the day, IF you make sure the water does not touch the leaves or blooms. If it does, your plant will become wilted, but will perk up during the nighttime hours for the next day.

all the properties i took care of we would water the grass and all landscapes around 3-4 am this way the plants would get the water needed prior to any evaporation from the sun and the properties would be dry enough in the day for people to enjoy them without getting muddy or damp

That relies upon the place your stay. If in the south, only water in the night as water on the grass at midday can somewhat boil and kill the leaves. the superb is in the quicker portion of the morning in the previous the sunlight gets too warm, or in the night so it is going to likely be absorbed in the previous fungus or mould set in. only water for a couple of minutes, 10 to fifteen minutes, longer and the water merely runs off. Grass is a shallow rooted plant and too lots water is a waste.

Preferably evening when the sun has set. This way the water does not evaporate and the water goes to the roots of grass and plants.

Night time. The sun durning the day will just dry the water up right away. At night the water will stay put!
