Be thankful it was only $20. Rule #1: Never send cash-use a check or Western Union that way there is a record of the transaction.

Fortunately, all is not lost. Obviously, you have her name and address. Start by turning that information over to the police and the Postmaster General.

There could have been problems when she mailed the package, like an error in the address. Or somebody saw the package on your doorstep and snagged it. This is a common enough crime in some areas. Double check if the her package isn't sitting at the post office.

There isnt anything you can do since you sent cash. You have no proof that you sent her the money and no proof that she recieved it. Learn a lesson from this. Next time if you must send cash you need to have the package either sent UPS where you have a tracking numer or if you mail it make sure a signature is required to recieve the package.

Was this Ebay? There is always some risk on online things like this. I would say accept your $20 loss and learn from it. You probably saved more than that on other items you bought (I know I've saved ridiculous amounts of money with Ebay, so the rare time it doesn't work out I don't worry too much - but don't the bank on it of course). Best luck and keep saving!!!

Personnally I wouldn't do anything.......how much do you make per hour? (dont answer, i'm just saying) but chances are that trying to clear this up (ie: alot more than 4 hours) will take longer than the time it takes you to make the money back and if it was me i'd rather just relax. For next time NEVER send cash unless you are donating and never expect anything back......if you deal like this often use a cheque or credit card via paypal.....if its an ebay sale that only accepts credit cards and no paypal then I wont be buying from them

you could report this to the police...
by referring the lady's adress in which u sent the money too.
there could be an arrest made to the place where you sent it.

good luck...
but if i was you, i would just leave it there, learn my lesson, and not do it again.

you seriously dont wanna add more flame to the fire.
