what does it mean to be American?

i need help with my homework. i need to make a collage of where and how you fit in to the American Identity and how you fit into its future. I am Korean-American. i really need help. how do i make collage out of this? Please help me!

My entire family of men were all in the Marine Corp at various times, we grew up believing that God and state has a place together in the hearts of Americans.
It appears to many that we are presently a nation divided, my opinion is we will never be divided, we may not always agree and see eye to eye but we all LOVE our country.
Our country is made up of many races, creeds and colors but each of us is from the Human Race. My future and how do I fit in? I'll be 69 in a few days and I can't think of one country I would rather have been born in and will die in.

I used to be American. Some members of my family met others, fresh off the boat. It was better to be American. So we were. Regardless of DNA, my family has been American for generations. That's our story and that's what I sent to school with my daughter, when she was asked.

You tell them you're an American mutt. Just like the rest of us. However, you know it adds to our gene pool and abilities, if we didn't have education trying to differentiate us, constantly.

I was pissed, when my daughter got this sorry little assignment. Some of my family were Native Americans and they blended. NONE of my family would ever be imprisoned on a reservation. We've lived in this country before it was America, came before it was America and we've always been American.

If your parents/grandparents chose to live here, that makes you American, the same as everyone else.

What's our future? Whatever we make of it.

Make your collage however you like! I am sick to death of this separatist idea of Anglos and Others! Even the Anglos, aren't! The Genome Project would find most Americans are mixed races.

We've had some embarrassing times, most families, experience those times. My daughter is about to marry a guy who's Irish/Latino. I answered the door and the family asked if the people were Mexican. I said "HUH?" We're gonna mix some more! 2 generations from now, my great-grandkids will be lucky to speak Spanish and never know their grandfather was half Latino, because he has blue eyes and freckles.

cultures ... you could do a big pot even though all of the ingredients don't seem to work the end result is a great Country ...
