I want to audition for the first time in my life for a play. It is Dearly Departed, and I am a freshman in High School. I want something that is around 1-3 minutes long, and is very dramatic. I want to be able to show I can act so it needs to have stage directions. I don't just want to stand there, and tell a story. Life I said I want to show that I have acting skills so something where I can be dramatic, and move around a lot would be amazing! Does anyone know where I can find a good audition monologue for a teen like me that is dramatic enough?

Thank you!!

Ten Things I Hate About You

written by Karen McCullah Lutz & Kirsten Smith; adapted from the play by William Shakespeare

Kat: I hate the way you talk to me. And the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare I hate your big dumb combat boots. And the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick-- it even makes me rhyme. I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh -- even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you're not around. And the fact that you didnt call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you - - not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

Dearly Departed is a funny red-neck play. If you could get a copy there is good material in there. Monologues also should be carefully selected to be a perfect fit for you.

You do not need stage directions to act a monologue, you need to know what acting is and where stage directions should come from. You also need to know how to introduce and conclude an audition monologue.
