No. I have no idea where your friend heard this little tidbit. It's totally false. Cancer may not be fully understood, but this is not the reason why women get breast cancer. Cancer in general is a heck of a lot more complex than that.

I think this may have come from studies showing that women in some other countries (countries where women don't even wear bras, much less wire ones) have less incidences of breast cancer than countries where women wear bras (with or without under wires).
This is probably much more likely to be due to our diet or lifestyle than our choice in undergarments though. Go ahead and wear that under wire, and maybe just try to get some more antioxidants in your diet and visit your doc for yearly checkups if breast cancer is something that concerns you.

If we were to base life solely on everything that supposedly cause cancer then what would eat, no wiring a bra with a wire doesn't cause cancer. But do breast exams if your that concerned and check for lumps.

The main reason why tight bras are bad for breast health is because they restrict the lymph flow in your breasts. Normally the lymph fluid washes out waste materials and other toxins away from the breasts, but bras (and especially push-up bras) inhibit this action, so toxins can start to accumulate in the breast, and that can help cancer to develop. In other words, bras inhibit the way our bodies normally cleanse themselves and get rid of cancer cells and toxins. if you find a lump in your breast, it may very well be filled with lymph fluid that was not able to move away from the breast tissue.

Bra wearing may also be connected to cancer in other ways. Wearing bras slightly increases the temperature of the breast tissue, and women who wear bras have higher levels of the hormone prolactin. Both of these may influence breast cancer formation.

You've got more chance of receiving AM radio than you have of getting cancer with a wired bra.

It depends how old you are. If they're (your boobs.lol) developing, then its most likely to increase the chances of getting breast cancer. Only metal wiring causes breast cancer anyway, you can buy bras from m&s that dont have metal wiring, they use a different type of wiring that isnt metal.
Hope this answers your question.
