I am currently growing up in Cleveland (and almost done!). we live in the neighborhoods surrounding Cleveland and I have absolutely loved it. As a young child we had a decent size back yard in a fairly nice neighborhood. The great thing about Cleveland is that you are so close to entertainment especially for kids. i remember going to the zoo, the various parks, the natural history museum, the children's museum, the botanical garden, taking art classes at the cleveland art museum, seeing children oriented musicals at severence hall and at the cleveland playhouse, taking violin lessons at the music school settlement, and the list goes on. The great thing about all this is that you don't ahve to live in downtown Cleveland in order to enjoy it. live about 13 minutes from downtown so iti s easily accessible. I would not, however, recommend living downtown itself as in many residential areas it is not safe especially at night.

as for the more adult scene, there are many clubs including the house of blues as well as many places to see concerts, plays, orchestra's, etc.

I ♥Cleveland lol!!!

Excuse most of the post Cleveland has a long standing history of East Side vs. West side & everyone always wants to say how the East side is terrible but it's actually very nice and very diverse areas. Some of the places mentioned are not as crime ridden as some people try to say. Anyways I don't see why you wouldn't want to live in Mayfield Hts. it's near your job, and the free way so if you want to go downtown you're right there, also there is a lot places to go shopping in that area. Non free way access to Mayfield Hts area nice places would be Cleveland Hts., University Hts., Lyndhurst, Richmond Heights, Beachwood, and South Euclid. & yes there is a very large Jewish population over here on the East side. There are parts of Euclid that is really nice and also Wickcliff isn't that far away from Mayfield Hts either. If you like a more diverse area with a lot of unique shops check out Cleveland Hts.

I lived in Cleveland for 22 years. It was a great experience they Cleveland Browns, the Indians making it to the World Series. The Cost of living in the Metro Cleveland is very good compared to elsewhere in the US. You can live in some great suburbs depending on your price range. For cheaper living burbs such as Parma, Middleburg Hts, Berea Lakewood are good choices. If you want to spend a little more Try some for the south Burbs Strongsville, North Royalton Brecksville Broadview Hts. I went to Brecksville High school and am pretty successful. All of my friends have been as well. 90% of or graduation class went to to college and they are still ranked top in the state in academics. Talk to some real estate agents they will give you the breakdown on the different suburbs.

Cleveland is an awesome place to visit, eat, shop, sightsee, boat, see a broadway type show, hear an awesome orchestra, visit world class museums, and get sick. (they have one of the BEST healthcare systems in the World!).

Just don't LIVE in the city of Cleveland itself with a family. Too much crime and horrendous schools. I live in Lake County, Ohio to the East and everyone I know works downtown but lives out here. It only takes 20 minutes to get downtown, (except during a blizzard). We have excellent schools and nice neighborhoods and are still able to enjoy Downtown Cleveland when we want.

Cleveland the city itself is NOT a good place to raise a family except in the Westpark/Kamm's corner area and if you want to send your children to private schools... However, the surrounding East/Westside suburbs are a great place to raise a family.. There's on the Westside... Lakewood, Rocky River, Bay Village, Avon, Avon Lake and N. Ridgeville and on the Eastside there's Euclid, Mayfield, Mayfield Hts. Beachwood, Chardin, etc.... I'm a westsider- so I'm partial but, either one is good.. Most suburbs are anywhere from 10 min-45 min from the City of Cleveland which is a nice place to visit but, wouldn't want to live there... !

I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're raising a family. The school system leaves a lot to be desired and it's just not a very safe place for kids overall. That applies to the Cleveland city limits. On the other hand there are plenty of suburbs and surrounding areas that are great places to raise a family.

There are some very nice areas in the Cleveland area. Now beware if you are thinking of moving to Cleveland proper, the school district is a very low rated school district. There are many school systems outside of Cleveland that are fine though.

Lake Erie is a natural draw. If you live in the suburbs, you have the best of all worlds. Short commute to the city, great museums, serious business connections, good colleges, arts, restaurants, and some of the best health care in the nation. The definite change of seasons is also a plus if you like that kind of thing.

It is wonderful, if you can take the snow. Man I am from N.O., I lived in Cleveland about 15 years ago. I worked for GE at NELA park. I loved Cleveland, but man the snow was too much for me.

The actual city....NO. Crime is at an all time high, the schools are deploreable, downtown is deserted, the population is diminishing, there are not enough cops and the mayor is off his rocker.

There are many, many wonderful suburbs, though. Lakewood, Brecksville, Solon, Twinsburg, Bath just to name a few.
