I think 3000 hits is more impressive than 500 home run because it generates 6 times the offense. Both Biggio and Thomas will be hall of famers but Palmerio doesn't deserve the hall because he cheated. He literally threw his career away because of steroids. Cheaters don't belong in the hall of fame.

Biggio ,yes without question, Thomas, probably, but I have a problem with the DH. I think the Hall should be for players that play in the field also. As for Palmeiro, hopefully he'll get the McGwire treatment. If I was voter I would never vote for Mac or Palmeiro.

Biggio is a solid candidate but not sure about Palmeiro...I like to see Frank get in as well...I think you have to raise the bar a bit...just because of 500 HR doesn't guarentee a spot you know what I mean...

Biggio, maybe..a big maybe. Thomas probaby not. Palmeiro, definitely not, after the steroid thing. 500 homers isnt what it used to be with the juice, smaller parks, and lowered mounds. 3,000 is still quite impressive, it requires consistency over a long period of time.

It should be a lock to get in with either of those numbers, although I believe 3000 hits is harder to get, therefore more valuable. But, it depends on if people cheat or use steroids. Other than Pete Rose, I don't believe there is a person with 3000 hits not in the HOF. I think Sosa, McGwire, and Palmeiro would easily be in the HOF had they not taken steroids with the numbers they put up.

The only reason Pete Rose is not in the Hall is because he committed THE cardinal sin of baseball. Otherwise, these are first-ballot HOF stats. However, if they're penalizing players who allegedly took steroids, Palmeiro (who tested positive) might not make it.

3000 hits is a much better feat.

If you hit 50HR's a year like A-Rod or Ken Griffey Jr. at his prime, it would only take 10 years.

Ichiro is an amazing player, since he gets 200+ hits/year. To get to 3,000 hits a year it would take 15 years at that pace.

So, with that, and the steroids issue, the 3000 hits are a much more solid number! :)

I think if you get 3000 hits you have a better chance of getting in the Hall. Because of all the steroids issues.. you dont need juice to get hits.

yes if you are good enough to break miles stones that roughly 25 people have done in the thousands that have played baseball had done then i'd say you deserve a place in the hall of fame.
