My husband suffers from a mental illness for which he refuses to be treated. He's cheated on me, abuses me emotionally, and flies into paranoid rages.( he used to abuse me physically) but always denied it. I need to end this Craziness, but police say they cannot do anything. Can I use his latest affair as ground for Divorce even though it was in another State? Help!

Most states are "no fault" states meaning that you can get divorce simply by have ireconcilable differences or any break down in the marriage. You do not need to be the victim of an affair to file for divorce. An affair typically is relevant in a divorce situation, if the adulter expended significant monies on his lover or conducted the affair in the presence of the children. Otherwise, it probably is not worth the effort trying to "prove" that your spouse was unfaithful.

Your husband is not only unfaithful but also abusive. Get to a good divorce lawyer now and end the relationship. Surely, you desire to be treated with respect and dignity and your husband just doesn't get it.

Got PROOF? then USE IT!!!!!! an affair no matter WHERE it takes place or with WHOM is still an affair....as far as I can see you can get him on adultery AND mental abuse (if not physical)...be prepared though---men with mental illnesses seem to snap out of them rather quickly when they are fighting a soon to be EX SPOUSE......

You can use the past abuse & affair for grounds for divorce. Get a lawyer NOW & file papres. you don't deserve to live with his treatment. if he refuses to get help for him illness then that's HIS problem, not yours.
