They seem to get rid of all their good young players for more good young players coming up, which seems to be the last 15 years...........are they ever going to produce a winning season again.............

I'm guessing he's eligible for arbitration and would fetch top dollar. Since Pittsburgh is small market and no one goes to any of their games, they won't have the payroll, even with revenue sharing, to afford him and not go bankrupt.

He would sure look good in a Cardinal uniform again - he KILLS St. Louis!

At this point, it's unclear. While he is the 2nd highest paid player on the team, they don't have any good options for the position that are significantly cheaper: Cesar Izturis has an '08 option in his contract, but it's only for about $600K less than Wilson earns and he's a significantly worse hitter; and Jose Castillo has played so poorly over the past year and a half that he's shown he's probably a career bench player. They do have a decent minor league prospect named Brian Bixler, but his numbers at AAA this year were only marginally better than Wilson's are the majors - hardly a can't-miss prospect.

I believe he will ask for more money than the Pirates are willing to give him. He's solid, but he's not that great. He's pretty good defensively, and gets lots of triples.
