The Founding Fathers guarenteed us "Freedom of religion", not "Freedom from religion."

America was founded on Judeo- Christian values.

Prayer and attending religous services have both been a part of our cultural experience since the arrival of the Mayflower.

Religous expression is part of the American identity.

Why should the National Day of Pray be controversial? If you don't want to pray, you don't have to?

Isn't that the same logic the libs use regarding t.v. violence? If you don't want to watch it, then don't.

I think you need to take another look at the US Constitution, with regard to religion. Separation of Church and State is supported by the US Constitution.
Article 6, U.S. Constitution:

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

I don't see how "no religious test" equates to the freedom to worship to only a Judeo-Christian God. Regarding the 'National Day of Pray'... your argument is that anyone who "doesn't want to, doesn't have to". OK, so by your very own reasoning... anyone who is against gay marriage doesn't have to be gay or marry, right? Anyone who's against abortion doesn't have to have one, right? If you want to use 'lib logic', then let's use 'lib logic'. We could even drop the 'lib' part and just say it's logic.

I have no problem with freedom of religion, I do have a problem with religion being used as a basis for legislating morality under the guise of 'family values' and faith-based initiatives. Well I think the whole First Amendment has been greatly misunderstood lately. The First Amendment protects Free Speech FROM GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION. The First Amendment protects the Press FROM GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION. The First Amendment protects the right of the people to peaceably assemble FROM GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION.
