I've won money from scratch offs by using my intuition. It's possible that the Wiccan teacher used his intuition to tell him he needed to buy tickets that day.
I've won stuff that way before. I was riding in my car and I usually never call in for those radio contests, but I felt very strongly that I would definitely win if I called. So I did and I won 4 tickets to the CSI Experience at the Museum of Science and Industry
