....the left will still call for a pull-out! Then, after years have gone by, victory declared and most of our troops are home after a job well done, the Democrats will stand up before our nation and say "see, we told you we'd bring them home!"

Either way the spin doctors on the Left will say it is evidence we should pull out. Is working - we've spent enough time & the Iraq government took a vacation. Not working enough - Iraqi government took a vacation & it is a civil war. They will not look at the consequence of pulling out.
Even though it will even affect their present corner stone issue - Global Warming. If Iraq is truly nothing more toady than an internal civil war, who ever doesn't control the oil revenue will ignite the oil fields. This make both strategic & tactical sense.

I think the left likes to pull out never but in the matter of the war, they would just as likely never enter. The truth of the matter is, more and more people are saying the surge is being successful, it's all about politics.
See, before the surge, even a lot of republicans were beginning to waiver in their support. Since the surge is being labeled an improvement, more and more people are coming back. It's not entirely about winning the war for politicians it is about winning voters. Less and less people look for integrity and dedication in someone they might vote for so you get the flip flopping wishy washy on the fence guys always looking for someone to tell them which way the wind blows. It's pathetic. And amazing that these people ever managed anything in their lives let alone a successful election campaign at least one time in their lives.

If the surge is a failure, why did a Soldier in Iraq tell Mr. Bush that it wasn't, when Mr. Bush showed up in Iraq by surprise this morning? It was on Fox News this morning. I actually heard a Soldier say to Mr. Bush that we're winning in Iraq, and he updated him in his own words, personally.
Libs who watch the news heard it too, but just don't want to accept the truth. Or the honest love from the troops.
No, it doesn't matter. It appears the only thing on the mind of most Liberals is control of the country, and the destruction of the Bush Administration, at the cost of the same country they deem to rule, and claim to love. The misery of the soldiers they should be celebrating, and thanking, doesn't matter to them either, OBVIOUSLY!

The left won't change its mind no matter what. Speaking for myself, I am waiting for the report from General David Petraeus. I am going to make my own assessment of what he says, because I really believe that's the right thing to do rather than rely on what either side pulls out of it. I am seriously concerned about the ability of the Iraq government's ability to reconcile the differences between Iraq's warring sectarian factions. I don't think it's a matter of Iraqis standing up for themselves anymore. I think they are very capable of standing up for themselves. I believe it's a matter of whether they can reach reconciliation. Do they want reconciliation, if not how long will it be before they do?

Nothing matters to the socialists except destroying America.
Regardless of our obvious successes in Iraq certain members of Congress will push for a pull out. However they will fail because the majority of Congress know if they vote to pull out and that wins, they will lose their seats in the next election. You cannot abandon the troops or Iraq and expect anyone but commies to vote for you.

If the surge is a success then I won't read in the paper every other day about a bomb blowing up and killing 160 people in Baghdad. No more US soldiers will die in Iraq. Iraqis will go out on the streets and thank us for liberating them. They will be a beacon of democracy in the middle east. The weapons of mass destruction will be found. The rest of the Arabian countries will turn to democracy. Bin Laden will be found and hung on the streets of Kabul. We will not have thrown away a TRILLION dollars on a small third-world country thousands of miles away. We will divert all that military money to rebuild our infrastructure, instead of the infrastructure of a country whose infrastructure we needlessly destroyed. We will have triumphed over terrorism. Isn't that what was promised? Isn't it reasonable to have high expectations? I mean, come on now guys, four years, a trillion dollars, 3,700 lifes, it's the least you could do.You give us what you promised and I will personally turn Republican and kiss your stinking butt!

If it is a success, and if that word gets out, the left will ignore it and proceed to claim defeat.
Notice we haven't heard anything about the economy lately? Unemployment? Iraq as a 'civil war'? These guys dodge topics faster than Bill Clinton in a courtroom.

There is already a great reason to pull out and every reasonable goal that has been set has been a huge failure. We can't afford 4-6 billion per month. Those who want us to stay in should call for a war tax.
PS: I hope everyone speaking in favor of this war is doing so from a computer in Iraq or you are all hypocrites.
The surge is a failure. The purpose of the surge was to SECURE BAHGDAD SO THE GOVERNMENT COULD MEET BENCHMARKS.
The surge was all about bahgdad, and Bahgdad is not secure, and the government of Iraq has done nothing. The only thing the republicans say is successful is that in Anbar they have appased and made alliances with murderers who have killed US soldiers.
Instead of bringing them to justice the US is giving them weapons as a reward for temporarily not killing US soldiers. And the major cause of the violence, Al Sadr, is "untouchable" according to the US military even though he has killed dozens of US marines.

The left will want to pull out no matter what the report is that comes out. It's a game to win for them in '08. Winning in '08 is all that matters to them. NOTHING ELSE. Peace
